Fall season in St. Louis continues to be one of the most amazing demonstrations of togetherness and teamwork in our local area. For over 103 years, individuals and companies have united their fundraising efforts to ensure that United Way’s community-wide campaign supports over one million neighbors, especially during times of challenge and crisis. This year, our shared goal is clear and urgent — to raise as many funds as possible to maintain a strong and resilient safety net for our community.
The “all in” spirit of St. Louis is more than just a concept for United Way and its 160 nonprofit safety net partners as they work to lead the way in modeling collaboration and collective giving to benefit our neighbors. Last year alone, employees from United Way and nonprofit safety net organizations contributed $690,000 combined through donations from their teammates eager to join in and make a difference beyond their formal roles.
Regina Greer, Chief Impact Officer for United Way of Greater St. Louis, embodies the heart of this movement. With nearly two decades of leadership in driving impact, she not only champions the cause as an employee, but as a leadership level donor engaging Divine 9 members in an annual fundraising challenge for Black Sororities and Fraternities during the campaign.
“It’s difficult for me to sit back and realize that I have something to contribute and not do whatever I can to help,” Regina reflects. “This year is especially challenging due to ongoing disaster responses from the May 16th storms and additional funding cuts affecting our sector. I want to do all I can to help with both existing and emerging needs.”
But Regina is not alone. Hear from other employees at nonprofits in United Way’s nonprofit network who are just as passionate about making a difference:
- Lakeysha Fields, Associate Divisional and St. Louis Regional Social Services Director for The Salvation Army of Greater Metropolitan St. Louis: “When we come together, we amplify our impact. Together, we can tackle immediate and long-term challenges following every crisis our community faces.”
- Maddie Bobbitt, Extreme Recruiter for Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition: “I see the struggles of families every day. Knowing that our collective efforts can provide them with essential resources motivates me to give more.”
- Tori Gale, Senior Director of Partnership Services for the Wyman Center: “Investing in our youth today shapes the leaders of tomorrow. It’s an honor to contribute to their futures side by side with peers across other agencies.”
United Way and its partners understand the transformative power of collective giving with the belief that we can achieve far more together than any single gift or organization ever could. By uniting each year, we empower individuals and families with the tools and support they need to stay on track and succeed now and in the future.
Join us in this vital mission! Your donation ignites change and hope in our region. United, we can create a brighter tomorrow for everyone in St. Louis.
